Stray kitten Miff beats chest infection

Miff is a black and white female kitten who was presented to the clinic after her owners had found her as a stray. When Miff was found by her owners, she was a tiny 8 week old kitten who had a chest infection and weighed only 1.17kg. During consultation with Dr Zoe, it was found that Miff had a wheezy respiratory and sounded raspy under the stethoscope.

A course of antibiotics was given to Miff to help resolve her chest infection. The anitbiotics had only slightly improved her chest sounds so it was decided that Miff would require radiographs. The radiographs showed an increase in soft tissue within her lungs and a further course of antibiotics were needed as she was diagnosed with having pneumonia.

Miff was required to be on antibiotics for several months as well as regular visits to the clinic in order to see how she was progressing on the antibiotics and ensuring her respiratory problems were resolving. Once our vet decided that Miff was fit enough for general anaesthetic, radiographs were performed to further investigate her chest infection. A sample of Miff's lung tissues was also obtained.

After many months of commitment and persistence from her owners, Miff started recovering from her infection. Eventually she was well enough to be spey, in which she recovered exceptionally well from and was extremely stable under the anaesthetic.

The dedication and love that Miff's owners showed to Miff during her sickness has enabled her to recover well from having pneumonia as an extremely young kitten. Miff is now playing and acting like a normal kitten and enjoying her young years.
