Elliot and his bleeding tongue

Two year old Elliot was brought to our clinic when his owners had noticed that he was bleeding from his mouth after he had returned home after a wander in the neighbourhood. Elliot's owners were unsure of what could have caused the bleeding from the mouth but it was quite possibly he may have gotten into trouble.

Upon consultation with Dr Beth, it was discovered that Elliot had a large laceration across his tongue which was the cause of the bleeding. Elliot needed to have surgery in order to suture his wound on this tongue. He was given an antibiotic injection as well as a pain relief injection to ensure the wound on his tongue was able to heal as effectively as possible. Elliot was a brave boy during the surgery and was sent home when he recovered.

During Elliot's post operative check, our veterinarian discovered there were some breakage in the wound so Elliot needed further surgery to suture the wound. Elliot returned home with some extended antibiotics and pain relief, and although had just had his tongue sutured he still had a great appetite that evening!
