Sid's rumble in the park

Little Sid is a very adorable French Bulldog who arrived at our clinic after being in a scuffle at the park with another dog. Sid was in a little bit of pain and on closer examination Dr Alex noticed some fight wounds on Sid's abdomen. Surgery was required so Sid was admitted into our hospital ward.

Calypso loses a tooth

Calypso is a lovable Blue Heeler who recently had a misadventure with a car. Unfortunately Calypso has a bad habit of biting car tyres and a few weeks ago tried to do so whilst her owner was driving the car into the garage! Calypso's owners had no idea she was there and this resulted in poor Calypso getting hit in the mouth with a tyre.

Meg 'breaks a leg'

Poor little Meg has had a rough start to puppy life. One morning her devoted owners heard her screaming in pain in the back yard. They rushed outside to find Meg had her leg caught in a piece of garden furniture. After freeing her it was evident Meg would need to come straight into the clinic as she could not put any weight on her left foot.

Sammie and his adventures of 2009

Our patient of the month or more likely patient of the year is the gorgeous "Sammie". Sammie has been a regular patient in our hospital this year due to a series of "misadventures".

Early in the year Sammie was hospitalized with us due to FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease). This required Sammie to have an anaesthetic to place a urinary catheter. He remained in hospital for one week and recovered well.

Chunk's woodchopping adventure

"Chunk" has had a rather rough start to her young life. "Chunk", an adventurous four week old female Staffordshire terrier cross, was outside exploring the back yard while her owners were chopping some wood. Unexpectedly, a piece of wood went flying and landed on one of Chunk's feet. The wood caused a deep laceration and crushed the surrounding tissue. Chunk's owners brought her immediately to the clinic for examination.

Roxy's dangerous love of foam rubber balls

Our patient of the month for August is a young pup called "Roxy", a nearly two year old female Labrador, and her run in with a piece of rubber ball. To her owner's concern, "Roxy "started vomiting early one morning and was unable to keep water or food down. She kept vomiting so her owners gave us a call here at the clinic and we advised them to come down as soon as they could.

Bobby's case of arthritis

Our patient of the month is a lovely old boy called Bobby. Bobby is a beautiful nine year old Pointer cross who visits us regularly for Pentosan injections.

Meet Gypsy - One of our regular senior patients

Gypsy is a ten and half year old Kelpie X Border Collie. Since Gypsy is over seven years old, she is classed as a senior pet. It is important from now on that Gypsy's parents take extra steps to ensure we can prolong and enhance her quality of life. In human years, Gypsy would now be equivalent to a 70 year old human and as we all know at that age we all become a little more fragile and require more regular health checks by our doctor.

Bella’s day at the vet

Bella who is a very happy and hungry Weimaraner helped herself to a treat of macadamia nuts one evening! The next morning she had become wobbly on her back legs and had very trembling muscles. Her mum gave us a call and then brought Bella down for a visit. Lucky that she did as macadamia nuts are actually toxic to dogs.

Moby and his case of Pancreatitis

Meet Moby. Moby stayed with us in hospital for a week after presenting very unwell with vomiting. Moby normally is a very happy little guy that loves nothing better than to wag his tail and greet every one with the same amount of enthusiasm so when he came to us with his tail down and his eyes not so bright we knew he wasn't a well guy. Dr Alex ran blood tests and concluded that Moby had pancreatitis. After a week of treatment of intravenous fluid, antibiotics and lots of TLC, Moby was able to return to his feline sister Daisy and brother 'Sydney' who had missed him so much. We have seen Moby since his stay with us and since being on a reduced fat diet is back to his old self, charming everyone around him.
